From Our Co-Founder

“I have been given the opportunity to do something great, with great people. I love coming to our office and seeing the inspiring people I have the privilege to share as my Team. They humble me with their enthusiasm and belief in a culture that puts Team over self – “we” before “me”. We serve you, so that together, we can serve others. You will never find a group of people who works so hard for the success of their Teammates. Like every one of my colleagues, we will do anything possible to make our nurses pleased that they chose to work with Valley and our clients able to provide quality clinical care to their members. Their smile is the best and most effective advertising.”

Steve Swan

If you’ve ever read my LinkedIn profile, you’d see that there are few jobs I haven’t had. My mom and dad are my greatest influence in my work ethic as both made huge sacrifices as lower middle class parents wanting something better for their kids. My dad used to say, “Don’t ever let someone catch you without calloused hands – you’d be shot in a revolution.” His way of saying that working hard is as important as anything else that matters most. My mom taught me the excitement and fascination with logic and automation through computers. I’ve been able to leverage my inner nerd to design and even develop some cool tools at Valley. I have a son Conner who is entering his third year at UC Berkeley studying computer science. I am married to a beautiful young lady, Heather who not only works incredibly hard, but also ensures my son and I are always taken care. I also proudly serve our great country in the California Army National Guard as the Company Commander for the HHD Company of the 223rd (RTI).

Ryan Zaucha

Director of Recruiting

I wasn’t like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere’s a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who’s a hero. The music he’s created over the years, I don’t really listen to it, but the fact that he’s making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I’m selling? No. Do I know what I’m doing today? No. But I’m here, and I’m gonna give it my best shot.

Andrew Altieri

Sr. Compliance Specialist

Good morning, and in case I don’t see ya: Good afternoon, good evening, and good night! Do you know who I am? I don’t know how to put this but, I’m kind of a big deal… People know me. My name is Andrew aka Uncle Drew (soon to be Daddy Drew – ETA 12/23/17). I am the fruit loop in this world of cheerios and I find motivation by thinking about how life would be if I was as useless as the “H” in spaghetti. I love my job, I love my Valley family, I love my wifey for lifey, I love my pups Marley and Maverick and I love you.
Grazie e arrivederci.

Kiara Anderson

Recruitment Coordinator

Hi! My name is Kiara Anderson, a Recruitment Coordinator here at Valley. My job has me playing a part in the beginning, middle, and end stages of your dream travel assignment. Suffice it to say, there’s no such thing as a quiet day in the office! In my downtime, I can usually be found reading, spending time outdoors, or cuddling my cat (not always against her will).

Alex Assenza

Alex Assenza here, although, all my friends just call me Assenza. I consider myself the Swiss Army Knife of travel nursing: Know a little bit of everything and can do anything. My goal is to do everything I can to get the nurse the job they desire most by working directly with the hospitals and VMS partners and charming my way into their hearts. I speak 2 languages fluently—sarcasm and English. I always have a smile on my face and a cup of coffee in my hand. You can find me at a local UFC event or taking a nap on my lunch break. If you ever have a question, I am your guy!

Jordan Bergeson

Hello, I’m Jordan! I have been in the Healthcare Industry for over five years now, with over two of these being in travel nurse staffing. When I am not helping nurses navigate the gateways of healthcare staffing, you will usually find me hiking up a mountain or lost somewhere in nature. If you ever see me out and about there is a 75% chance my Miniature Australian Shepard, Harley Quinn, is with me. I love sour patch kids, watermelon is my favorite (and I am always open to donations). One thing I tend to stay away from is water (I love the beach); I have Thalassophobia – deep fear of the sea or ocean. That’s about it, hope you have an awesome day!

Selene Boyd

Hi, name is Selene Boyd and I am a travel nurse recruiter at Valley! I love spending my days helping nurses find their dream assignments across the U.S. I grew up in Southern California, and came to northern California to attend the University of California, Davis. I fell in love with the area and decided to make Sacramento my home! Outside of work I love exploring the surrounding area by hiking with my dog, Copper, or finding new restaurants to try amazing food. My goal is to be an advocate for my nurses, and always give 110% to find the perfect job for them! I look forward to helping you find your perfect assignment!

Karen Chen

Hi I’m Karen. It’s nice to meet you. I work in the marketing department at Valley, and I love to be creative and have a lot of fun. In my free time, I like to draw, make crafts on YouTube, hang out with my rabbit and do acroyoga.

Charles Cooper

Charles (or Cooper as he’s known to Valley) is internationally known. That’s pretty much due to his time living in London and his English in-laws, but still – they know him! He hails from Walnut Creek, CA, a city that was a small town until it was overrun by yuppies. He went to college in small party town in Chico, CA where he met the woman that would become his wife 8 years later. Together they moved to Los Angeles (where dreams go to die), followed by a couple years across the pond in London UK. He returned to the Bay Area by way of Oakland CA, without getting shot once, and now resides in Midtown Sacramento CA. He has two Mini Coopers – aged 3 and 4. He likes real cars too.

Kevin Drury

Greetings and salutations, my name is Kevin Drury. My goal in this industry is to be the last recruiter that you ever have to work with. I am thorough, understanding, and down to earth. I am upfront, blunt and honest. Outside of work I enjoy comics, gaming, concerts, and anything involving adrenaline.

Mike Faringer

Mike Faringer, the anointed ambassador to bad jokes. He’s been called the Dwight Schrute of travel nursing for his dedication of being available for his nurses 24 hours a day, a studier of Jeopardy and all things related to The Supreme Court. He stands as a beacon in the night of all things that are nerdy leading to him being the one guy you want on your team for trivia night.

Mariah Hansen

I love to travel almost as much as travel nurses – 6 countries down and way too many to go! When I’m not travelling, hiking or spending time with friends and family I enjoy helping nurses achieve their adventure goals. Born and raised in Sacramento, I’m a California girl at heart. I have a love affair with food – eating it and cooking it, especially if I get to try new things!

Sammy Love

Sammy Love was born in Santa Cruz, CA, established the same year as MTV. He traveled extensively to Northern America and Europe. While living abroad he attended the world famous Berlin Love Parade (with over 1,000,00 people) and ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. He enjoys running, photography, pizza, and fine Ila Scotch. After moving back to the Americas and studying fine art photography he finally decided to attend the University of San Francisco where he received his bachelor of science in nursing. Sammy ultimately found nurse recruiting because he wanted to combine his education, his passion for technology and his passion for connecting with people.

Sam Matheus

May I have your attention please? Will the real Sam Matheus please stand up? I love waking up in the morning not knowing what’s going to happen, who I’m going to meet or what slice of pizza I’m going to order. I learned to take life as it comes at you, especially if it’s a dog- because dogs are like chips, you can never have just one. What would I do if life gave me lemons? I would make martinis, to make each day count. I figured life is like a deck of cards, and I always end up choosing the Joker. I may not be smarter than you, but I am better than you at playing would you rather. –Drops Mic-

Chris Padilla

The man. The myth. The legend. A man that’s worn many hats– cigarette lighter repairman, volunteer stuntman, fantasy fooseball coach. He found his true calling at Valley Healthcare Staffing as a sworn protector of all that is compliant. He also has pretty swell collection of shoes.

Liz Phillips

Hi, my name is Liz Phillips and I am a recruiter here at Valley! I have lived in Sacramento basically my whole life (except for four years in Reno, NV attending UNR) and absolutely love this area. I spend most my free time with my and family. I am very passionate about traveling and have been to over 25 countries with my husband, Mark. This passion directly ties into my work here at Valley. I love getting to meet a clinician looking for a new adventure and be with them every step of the way, reveling in their awesome new experiences (and sometimes using their feedback to plan my next adventure too *blush*). I’m excited to work with you!

Sid Rivera

My aspiration at Valley is to find the best possible match between hospital and traveler, and bring the two together to create the best environment for patient care. My strong communication skills ensure that the needs of the hospital are in line with the needs of the traveler so that all patients are top tier care. When I’m not searching the country for the best travel jobs I like to spend my time gaming, listening to music and enjoying time with my family.

Susan Sterne

Hi! I am Susan Sterne and a recruiter at Valley Healthcare. My favorite part of being a recruiter is all the interesting people I get to talk to every day. When I am not finding nurses their dream travel assignment, I enjoy snuggling with my dog Roxy, watching Netflix, cooking crazy recipes, and going to concerts! I am originally from Alexandria, VA and I spent two amazing years in Denver, CO before finally settling down in sunny Sacramento, CA. I firmly believe that mermaids exist and that zombies are a real possibility. I am incredibly dedicated to my clinicians and will always go the extra mile to ensure their happiness and success.
