As a travel nurse, acquiring multiple RN licenses in different states will open new travel opportunities and higher paying rates. Being licensed in multiple states, is an investment, but worth the extra time and effort. Some of the highest paying states such as California, can take over a month to process your application, so the sooner you start your licensing process, the faster you can get top pay.

Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) States
The Nurse Licensure Compact, is a license that 25 states are currently participating in. If your home states license is in good standing and is a part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, then your license will allow you to work in any of the other compact states. In walk-through states, nurses can be issued a temporary state nurse license. This temporary nursing license can take anywhere from an hour to one day to be issued, and is typically valid for 30 days to 6 months, depending on the state.
